Rachel Carson

Rachel Carson (1907 - 1964) was a marine biologist, author, and conservationist. She spent much of her life working with the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Her influential book Silent Spring (1962) and other writings are credited with advancing the global environmental movement. Her other books include Under the Sea-Wind, The Sea Around Us (1951), and The Edge of the Sea (1955).
